Corelle Brands | “Fashion Kitchen” Debuts Hot New Looks

Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week is an impressive runway parade, offering the buyers and editors at the pinnacle of the fashion scene a peek at the freshest new looks. It’s art and inspiration, a mecca for fashion enthusiasts, an honor for designers and a privilege for guests. And, it’s where Corelle Brands teamed up with fashion designer Trina Turk and award-winning chef Seamus Mullen to host the second annual Fashion Kitchen experience. The event brings design, function and food together for the debut of two playful and contemporary collections from CorningWare® bakeware and Corelle® dinnerware.

“Fashion Week has such an amazing energy to it,” says Tania Aldous, director of global industrial design at Corelle Brands. “And we believe that there’s an energy in our new line of products.”

This year the fresh, new and colorful CW by CorningWare® line captured attention. The durable, colorful bakeware was designed with fashionable home cooks and entertainers in mind. A spectrum of vermilion red, curry yellow, twilight purple, pool blue and sprout green wowed event-goers.

Joining the show was Boutique by Corelle® with the new “Swept” and “Sol” embossed dishware, reminding today’s modern entertainers why Corelle dinnerware’s signature white collections have been in fashion for generations.


As part of the Fashion Kitchen experience, fashion designer Trina Turk, known for using bursts of colors and lively, unpredictable patterns, displayed three tablescapes for inspiration—formal, poolside and beachy chic—each pairing Corelle dinnerware’s timeless style with CW by CorningWare bakeware’s fresh and vibrant hues.

“When you’re designing a beautiful tablescape, it’s very similar to putting an outfit together,” says Turk. “Color and texture are something that we work with every day in our fashion collections, and the products reflect those same design principles.”

FORMAL: The secret to creating a look that’s both dramatic and welcoming is to start by using a black- and-white color scheme for each place setting. Then add a single pop of color. Turk uses CW by CorningWare curry bakers to add a burst of yellow against Corelle Sol dinnerware. Its fluted, embossed white pattern creates a fun yet classy contrast.

POOLSIDE: For a more casual look, Turk creates a mid-century modern scene using succulents to border an outdoor coffee table. Place settings reflect warm desert colors using Corningware’s vermilion red bakeware to capture the essence of Palm Springs.

DAY AT THE BEACH: Inspired by the colors of Malibu, Turk uses Boutique by Corelle’s Swept dinnerware in white to offset the rich, cool tones of CW by Corningware’s pool blue bakers. Add the finishing touches with a lantern filled with starfish or an arrangement of shells.

The Chef Station at Fashion Kitchen turned out equally appealing culinary creations, as Chef Seamus Mullen let the CW by CorningWare color palette inspire rounds of appetizers featuring dynamic flavor profiles.

“The CW by CorningWare is really cool because it sets the tone for what’s going to happen when you’re entertaining or when you’re cooking,” says Mullen, who prepared Roasted Kabocha Squash with Pomegranate Yogurt, and Miso Roasted Pork Belly with Uni, Caviar and Horseradish to beautifully complement the servingware. “The initial taste we have comes from what we see,” reminds Mullen.

Braised Lamb Shank Lettuce Cups with Cilantro Salsa Verde, Pickled Daikon and Cashews rounded out his collection of hors d’oeuvres that proved to be as vibrant and energetic as their serving vessels.
